I once again feel like making a bunch of random future predictions. Like in this previous post. With terrible illustrations by me, drawn in GIMP on a laptop trackpad because my new mac doesn’t have a USB port. (There’s some future shock for ya. IT HAS NO INPUT PORTS.)
When I was a wee child, I had these two picture books, one was called “You Will Live on the Moon” and showed all these things I could do, if I were a blond boy, on the Moon. The other one followed the same blond boy and his strong-jawed father in “You Will Live Under the Sea.” They were old-fashioned and corny by my 1980s kid-hood, but I still loved them and wondered why people didn’t still make these things.
Okay so, wild predictions!
Rising costs of private transportation and concerns over traffic safety and congestion allow Sky Ride Gondolas to become a major form of urban transportation. FINALLY.
Solar-powered, ocean-skimming robots eat plastics and poop boats. (You can use the boats or row them to shore for recycling.)
Robot street repair makes maintenance so trivial we go back to wooden and brick streets. Sometimes mosaic streets. It’s prettier. Anyway, air cars don’t care how smooth it is.
Sandworm-like robots dig tunnels, poop subways. They, like, sense all that underground infrastructure and work around it. No need to close streets during construction! A good option for the acrophobic not wanting to take the sky ride.
Y’all have no idea how long I spent trying to draw “a sandworm, but, like, cute.”
Tune in next time for more badly-drawn future predictions! You will live in the FUTURE!
