In a way, this is the one that started it all. I saw a link to a listacle that used this image for “Things that are Pumpkin Spice that have no business being Pumpkin Spiced” and I just about died because WHY DID I NOT HAVE THESE IN MY MOUTH RIGHT NOW??

I kinda like English muffins, okay? A lot.

Now, I wanted to eat these with Pumpkin Butter, but I used up all the delicious pumpkin butter I had! And the Apple Butter, too. I gotta wait for more friends to make homemade butters.

I tried one with Cashew Butter. “I have cashew butter?? Why do I buy these things?” Cashew butter, in case you were wondering, is so close in flavor to peanut butter as to be irrelevant.

“Eh, that was okay,” I said, “But I should try one toasted, plain, to be sure.

BEST IDEA I EVER HAD.

Completely plain, the English muffin was heaven. Sweet, spicy, hints of savory… this was Pumpkin Spice Latte, the bread.

Thomas, I salute you!

I figured I’d do these two at a time, so next up is the product I was most leery of trying: Jif’s “Whips” Pumpkin Spice Peanut Butter.

Pumpkin spice peanut butter? Really?

But I had to. For… science.

Now the “Whips” name gave me pause. I’d learned this lesson with Eddy’s “Whipped” ice cream. More air bubbles = lower cal, less product… sucker.

I sampled the unappetizing goo on a spoon first, for purity’s sake. I tasted peanut butter… and spice. It wasn’t so much a melding of flavors as both at once, and about what I would have guessed I’d get from pumpkin spice peanut butter.

I then tried it on plain white bread. (Science!) And toasted. There wasn’t much difference in appeal.  I will say the ‘whipped’ butter spreads very easily and smoothly (because it is full of air, sucker.)

Naturally, I then had to try it on a pumpkin spice English Muffin:

Meh. The peanut butter drowned out my awesome English Muffin. I would recommend against pairing these two.

Finally, I tried the peanut butter on white bread again with jelly. I used some cherry jelly we happened to have.

BY JIMMY CARTER’S GHOST!

The jelly added a kick to the spice that had been missing. Previously the peanut butter flavor dominated too strongly.

Lesson learned: Jif Pumpkin Spice Peanut Butter is formulated for use with jelly.

Pumpkin Spice English Muffins are  awesome.

Winner:
THE BROWNS.

Yeah, okay, no. SHUSH. I mean… next week. Go Browns.
