I had the day off yesterday and since I saw Captain America: Winter Soldier recently, I decided to spend the day looking for Nick Fury’s grave.

See, the movie was filmed in Cleveland, and I knew that some scenes were shot not far from Lakeview Cemetery so it made sense that the scene was filmed in Lakeview or nearby Mayfield Cemetery.

I watched the scene closely for unusual statuary – something that would be particularly rare.  I saw this reclining figure in red stone:

Jarvis, enhance that?

This is the back of the ‘Arthur’ tomb just one ‘block’ north of the Garfield Memorial. (This photo by me – as you can see the tree has gotten a bit fuller in the years since the movie.)

I think this particular area was chosen for two reasons – it has fewer fantastical statues than other areas of the cemetery – which makes it more ‘generic’ – and it’s flat and relatively open.

Near as I can tell, the fake grave stone was actually in an area that’s nearly bare, a rectangle of low stones with a few plain stones near them, and a large maple.  I of course wish they’d left the fake stone in place, but this is a real cemetery and I imagine the real families of real people buried there would be like, “yeah, no.”

Anyway, if anyone wants a guided tour of Lakeview, I can now add Nick Fury to the list with Garfield, Rockefeller, Flora Stone Mather and the others.

For full disclosure, here is the youtube video I used to screencap cap: https://youtu.be/Ql0sXh3PvPo
